Kalyn Underwood’s anatomy class at St. George’s Independent School recently enjoyed a hands-on lesson on the process of spinal implants. Audra Watt and Daniel Baker of Medtronic stopped by to show the students how the implants are performed. Watt explains scoliosis to the group and how surgery is done to repair it using rods and screws, while senior Andrew McBride performs a mock surgery in the background. Collierville Elementary School third-graders concluded their recent study of rocks and minerals with a visit from avocational geologist Michael Baldwin. Baldwin’s collection includes more than 10,000 different rocks from six continents and at least 40 states.
